North Carolina's College Savings Program Joins National Effort to Encourage Families to Save for Education
RALEIGH, NC / ACCESSWIRE / September 26, 2023 / September 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of National College Savings Month. To celebrate and encourage families to save for college, K-12, and other postsecondary education programs, NC 529, North Carolina's national college savings program, is giving away $5,529 in the Fall Into Savings Sweepstakes.
In 2003, the U.S. Congress declared September as National College Savings Month to raise awareness about the importance of saving for higher education. While families are encouraged to save for education all year long, College Savings Month is a good reminder for families to open an NC 529 Account if they haven't already. If they've already started investing for the future, this is also a good time to evaluate their savings strategies to reach their educational goals.
The NC 529 Fall Into Savings Sweepstakes is open to all current and new NC 529 Account holders. To be eligible for the drawing, participants must register their account on the website anytime during September and take at least one qualifying action.
Participants will earn entries for each of the qualifying actions they make in September:
- (1) entry for each contribution made to an existing NC 529 Account. Contributions from friends and family can also earn more entries!
- (2) entries for the first contribution made to a new NC 529 Account.
- (2) entries for setting up a new recurring contribution by automatic draft (ACH) or payroll deduction.
- (2) entries for increasing a current recurring contribution by at least $25 per account.
- (2) entries for activating an NC 529 Gifting URL.
The Fall Into Savings Sweepstakes closes on September 30, 2023. After the sweepstakes ends, a name will be drawn, and the winner will be notified of the $5,529 contribution to their NC 529 Account. College Foundation, Inc. (CFI), a North Carolina nonprofit, is the proud sponsor of the NC 529 Fall Into Savings Sweepstakes.
"NC 529 is excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of National College Savings Month by giving away $5,529 in our Fall Into Savings Sweepstakes," saidWendy McAlister, President and CEO of College Foundation, Inc. (CFI). "We hope families across the state can see the benefits of saving with an NC 529 Account and will act now to boost their education savings this month."
