Equitable HR Practices Expert Sarah Morgan Joins The Workforce Institute at UKG Board of Advisors

By: via Business Wire

The Workforce Institute at UKG, a think tank that helps organizations drive performance by addressing human capital management (HCM) issues while also providing an important voice for employees, including frontline and hourly workers, today announced that Sarah Morgan — an HR executive with more than 20 years of experience, with a focus on helping organizations build more inclusive and equitable cultures — has joined its distinguished board of advisors.

Morgan is the chief excellence officer at BuzzARooney, LLC, where she provides consulting and coaching surrounding inclusive and equitable organizational culture and practical, people-centric leadership. She also currently serves as the head of HR for a national retail-service conglomerate headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina.

“The Workforce Institute is proud to welcome Sarah to our board,” said Chris Mullen, executive director of The Workforce Institute at UKG. “She brings decades of expertise and a passionate vision for creating real change, not only in the ever-evolving world of HR, but throughout society. Together, we can provide the actionable insights organizations need to foster workplaces that better serve all individuals.”

In 2011, Morgan debuted her blog, The Buzz on HR, under the pen name “Buzz Rooney.” The blog became a hit among HR practitioners and industry influencers across social media, amassing more than 10,000 monthly readers. Since dropping the pseudonym, Morgan has created and curated a number of hashtag movements aimed at spotlighting and ultimately ending social injustice, including #BlackBlogsMatter, #BlackPodsMatter, and #AntiRacistHR, as well as #TimesUpHR, focused on stopping workplace harassment.

Morgan also created and hosts the “Leading in Color” podcast centered on cultivating positive workplace experiences through diversity, inclusion, and social consciousness. Featured in media outlets such as Black Enterprise, Fast Company, and CNN, Morgan has been named to the Best HR Practitioner Blogs, Top Women in HR Tech, and Global Voices of HR lists for consecutive years.

“I’m thrilled to be joining this board alongside a group of dedicated leaders who do the work and are focused on making a difference,” said Morgan. “We’ve seen a major shift over the past year, with more and more business leaders and organizations recognizing the need for drastic improvements in the ways we treat people both inside and outside of the workplace. I’m confident our work at The Workforce Institute can be a catalyst for positive change.”

Founded in 2007, The Workforce Institute at UKG is known for innovative research on signature issues such as unplanned absenteeism, employee burnout, boomerang employees, trust in the modern workplace, and how heard employees feel at work. The Workforce Institute has published four books with a special focus on the employee experience of frontline workers, and curates a biweekly blog that features content from its board of advisors and other guest contributors about the issues impacting work life.
