Gopuff and Baby2Baby to Distribute 100,000 COVID Tests to Families in Need Across Los Angeles

Free at-home tests will be distributed in January, making testing easier and more accessible for children and families in poverty

Gopuff, the go-to platform for immediate delivery of consumers’ everyday needs, today announced that it will donate 50,000 free at-home COVID-19 test kits (the equivalent of 100,000 individual tests) to Baby2Baby, a nonprofit organization at the forefront of COVID-19 relief providing essentials to children living in poverty. The donation, being distributed by Baby2Baby in January, will improve accessibility to rapid COVID-19 testing for vulnerable children and families.

This partnership kicks off today at a distribution event in Watts where Gopuff co-founder and co-CEO Rafael Ilishayev & Baby2Baby CEOs Kelly Sawyer Patricof & Norah Weinstein will be providing thousands of free tests to families in need along with groceries, diapers, hygiene items and more. Baby2Baby will begin distributing thousands more tests immediately.

According to healthcare experts, COVID-19 testing is key to helping slow the spread of the virus and potentially passing it on to others. The sale of COVID-19 test kits from Gopuff are up 10,000% on Gopuff since December 15th, 2021. However, access to tests continues to be a barrier for many.

“We designed Gopuff to be ready and able to be there for people in an instant, when they need us most. Throughout the pandemic, Gopuff has been providing our customers consistent access to COVID-19 test kits safely with no contact delivery,” said Rafael Ilishayev, co-founder and co-CEO at Gopuff. “But equal access to COVID-19 testing is critically important, and we are proud to do our part to help slow the spread of the virus by making at-home test kits free and easily accessible to children and families in need.”

"The Omicron surge has once again been the most detrimental to families living in poverty, with hundreds of thousands of students who rely on school for meals being forced to quarantine at home," said Baby2Baby Co-CEOs Norah Weinstein and Kelly Sawyer Patricof. "Because of Gopuff's incredible donation, Baby2Baby can distribute 100,000 rapid tests to families without access to testing who need them in order to return to school or work, a critical step in being able to provide for their children. We're so proud to host this distribution with Gopuff today to provide the children we serve with tests plus diapers, hygiene items, masks, groceries and more to help students and their families stay safe and protected during this overwhelming time."
