Hurricane Electric Expands IP Transit Options in Boston with New Point of Presence at CoreSite’s BO1 Data Center

Second location in Boston will help meet the demand for increased connectivity

Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone announced today that it has deployed a new Point of Presence (PoP) at CoreSite BO1 data center in Boston. It is Hurricane Electric’s second Point of Presence in Boston. The facility is located at 70 Inner Belt Rd, Somerville, MA.

CoreSite BO1 serves a wide variety of sectors, offering access to leading network, cloud and IT providers. The facility has over 253,000 square feet of data center space and can support high-density, computer-intensive requirements, and can scale from cabinets and cages to private suites. The facility offers a 100% uptime SLA, supported by an operations team and 24x7x365 security.

Boston is the leading life sciences hub and home to many other growing sectors. Additionally, Massachusetts boasts nearly 100 hospitals, as well as leading universities such as Harvard and MIT which are well known for their STEM programs. This new PoP will provide additional IP transit options and access to Hurricane Electric’s rich global network to growing organizations throughout the Greater Boston area.

In addition to providing increased network capacity through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports, Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, offers over 20,000 BGP sessions with over 9,000 different networks via more than 250 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.
