Treating employees with unique needs and circumstances fairly means being inclusive, diverse, accessible and equitable to all.”

As part of Bayer’s inclusive vision, Health for All, Hunger for None, the company embraces and values diversity in ideas, perspectives as well as cultures. The U.S. Executive Inclusion and Diversity Council and Business Resource Groups (BRGs) are a vital part of the company’s Inclusion and Diversity strategy. ENABLE, one of Bayer’s Resource Groups, supports employees who have disabilities, or family members with disabilities, leveraging a network to help them manage situations at home, while maintaining focus at work. They partner with leaders from across the organization to build awareness and improve access to facilities, opportunities, and resources.

“Employees with disabilities are an integral part of Bayer’s workforce, and ensuring all feel a sense of belonging is key factor in being one of the country’s best places to work,” said Shakti Harris, Head of Bayer’s Inclusion & Diversity in the U.S “Not only is it the right thing to do, but it’s this uniqueness and culture that allow Bayer to innovate, solve for the world’s biggest challenges and pursue our inclusive vision of Health for All, Hunger for None.”

The DEI was launched in 2015 by Disability:IN and The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and is acknowledged today as the most robust disability inclusion assessment tool in business. It was created by the DEI Advisory Committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts and disability advocates. Now in its eighth year, the DEI exists to help businesses make a positive impact on the unemployment/underemployment of people with disabilities.

“Disability inclusion is a rapidly expanding aspect of corporate culture, and it’s gratifying to partner with 415 companies on the 2022 Disability Equality Index,” said Jill Houghton, President and CEO of Disability: IN. “These top-scoring companies not only excel in disability inclusion, but many are also adopting emerging trends and pioneering measures that can move the disability agenda from accommodation to inclusion and ultimately, genuine belonging.

In 2022, 415 corporations, including 69 Fortune 100, 188 Fortune 500, and 227 Fortune 1000 utilized the DEI to benchmark their disability inclusion efforts. Out of 415 participants, 240 companies received a score of 100.
