WeWork Launches Global Program with 11 Cities to Foster Flexible Return to Work

WeWork is working with city leaders and organizations in New York, London, Paris, Washington D.C., Miami, Singapore, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston and Seattle to help businesses design and implement hybrid workplace strategies in the shift to flexible work

WeWork (NYSE: WE), one of the leading global flexible space providers, today announced a global initiative comprised of 11 individual strategic partnerships in cities across the world, designed to support businesses of all sizes return to the office in flexible ways that accommodate their needs, while also supporting the revitalization efforts of city leaders worldwide.

As part of the global program, today WeWork launched five new city partnerships with London, Singapore, Los Angeles, Boston and Seattle, through which local businesses will have access to incentives to help navigate the global movement towards flexible work and to develop hybrid solutions. Moreover, the program allows WeWork and city representatives to work together to analyze and action insights that help support each city’s specific dynamics, industries and needs.

WeWork has also refreshed incentives for its established partnerships in New York, Paris, Washington, D.C., Miami, San Francisco, and Chicago, which were designed to aid post-pandemic economic recovery. To date, participating businesses have been able to build solutions that allow a thoughtful return office for their employees, and city leaders have been able to understand trends and review WeWork-provided data relevant to economic recovery and stimulation in their respective cities.

It’s clear that recent years have ignited a fundamental shift in the purpose of workspace, creating a market that demands flexibility and optionality more than ever before. According to JLL's 2022 Future of Work Survey, 77% of organizations agree that offering remote or hybrid work will be critical to attracting and retaining talent, and 73% have already or are planning to make all office spaces open and collaborative. By providing resources and incentives to businesses across the globe, WeWork and its city partners seek to help companies adopt high-demand flexible workspace to support success in a new world of work.

As part of the program, WeWork is offering businesses access to certain incentives, including:

  • 50% off WeWork All Access monthly membership fees for 3 months for new members. WeWork All Access is a monthly subscription membership that provides access to hundreds of WeWork locations across the globe so that users can find a place and time to work; Terms apply or
  • WeWork private office space (for up to 49 people in select locations) with 1 month free with a 3-month+ commitment, or 2 months free with a 6-month+ commitment. Terms apply.

Businesses can access the offerings, including full details and terms, through a website portal at we.co/flexwork. These offers can help enable companies to develop unique, hybrid solutions for their workforce that can both accommodate business needs and help satisfy employee demand for flexibility.

In addition, the partnership will provide the city partners and organizations with key data and insights into how their cities are returning to work, creating a resource for the city and businesses of all sizes to aid in making informed decisions for the future.

"Our space as a service, All Access, and WeWork Workplace management solutions provide companies of all sizes – from small to medium businesses, to enterprise companies – the ability to optimize their real estate needs and the tools to provide purpose in their return to office,” said Sandeep Mathrani, CEO and Chairman at WeWork. "The prosperity of our cities is directly tied to the success of the businesses within them, and WeWork is proud to continue to help build strong communities in an ever-evolving world."

"As we continue our comeback, D.C. is proud to partner with WeWork on flexible solutions that keep our city a great place to live, work, and do business,” said D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser. “Together, we are adapting in real-time to workplace trends and positioning D.C. as a leader in the future of work – whether that is in the office, telework, or anything in between.”

“We are pleased to renew our partnership with WeWork to contribute to the economic life of the city. As the new season begins, I feel it is necessary to help our residents, our entrepreneurs and our businesses to strengthen and facilitate the economic recovery in the 17th arrondissement,” said Mr. Geoffroy Boulard, Mayor of the 17th arrondissement of Paris. “Partnerships like the one with WeWork give a boost to the return to the office and local life, and help our businesses find the space they need to not only get back to work, but also continue to enrich our neighborhoods.”

“As our world continues to become increasingly connected through the digitalization of services, the workplace environment is quickly transforming, and Miami is perfectly positioned to capture this new era of hybrid and flexible work,” said Miami Mayor Francis X. Suarez. “Our collaboration with WeWork will help ensure that Miamians have a dynamic and comprehensive ability to return to the office -- and do so in an efficient, productive, and collaborative way.”

"A return to the office is beneficial for both our city's downtown revitalization and an organization's workplace culture," said Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot. "I'm pleased to continue the City's partnership with WeWork and help our business community navigate a return to in-person work. Furthermore, I am grateful for this partnership that has aided our post-pandemic recovery and provided thoughtful solutions for evolving workplace dynamics."

“The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore is committed to connecting the business community to resources and networks that help advance their strategic goals,” said Dr. Hsien-Hsien Lei, Chief Executive Officer. “The world of work is transforming and AmCham members are looking for flexible workplace solutions to navigate hybrid work. We are proud to have WeWork in our community to help shape how and where we can work most effectively, efficiently and happily.”

“The Chamber is proud to partner with WeWork to provide more flexible work and office options for entrepreneurs, companies, and workers throughout Boston. Incentives and opportunities like this are one of the meaningful ways we can strengthen the region’s competitiveness and drive the revitalization of downtown,” said James E. Rooney, President and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.
