“The American Water Charitable Foundation is delighted to once again partner with K9s For Warriors to support their mission and the wellbeing of our veterans,” said Carrie Williams, President, American Water Charitable Foundation. “This grant will be instrumental in saving two lives – a brave veteran who has served our country and a rescue dog who deserves a second chance at a happy life. It also demonstrates a continued commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and our veterans.”

K9s For Warriors remains committed to ending veteran suicide, raising awareness for invisible disabilities, and creating policy-level reform for our veterans.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support of the American Water Charitable Foundation to further our mission to end veteran suicide,” said K9s For Warriors CEO Carl Cricco. “K9s For Warriors has the privilege every day to see the impact a Service Dog has on a veteran. With a battle buddy by their side, the veteran returns to a life of dignity and independence. American Water’s generosity allows us to continue changing veteran lives.”

The State Strategic Impact grant is part of the 2023 Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. State Strategic Impact grants support high-impact projects and initiatives throughout American Water’s national footprint.

“We are pleased to collaborate with the American Water Charitable Foundation in continuing our support for K9s For Warriors, an organization that focuses on the veteran community and resonates with our team,” said Sean Wheatley, President, American Water Military Services Group. “This partnership reinforces our Military Services Group’s mission to provide safe and reliable water and wastewater services to service members and their families on 18 military installations.”

In 2022, the American Water Charitable Foundation, in collaboration with American Water’s Military Services Group, provided a $25,000 State Strategic Impact grant to K9s For Warriors. The Foundation’s sponsored dog, Hydra, completed Service Dog training and was successfully paired with a U.S. Navy Veteran.
