Dialpad Partners with Sacramento Kings’ Davion Mitchell in National Expansion of Tech for Black Founders Partnership

  • Together with Mitchell, Dialpad to promote five Black-owned business through June 2023
  • The program has seen dramatic growth since its launch, offering support to 140+ Black-owned businesses and over $700,000+USD per year in free product discounts

Dialpad, Inc., the industry leader in Ai-Powered Customer Intelligence Platform, today announced an expansion of its Tech for Black Founders program and partnership with first-round pick, and Sacramento Kings’ starting point guard, Davion Mitchell. Tech for Black Founders is under the Dialpad for Good umbrella of programming and provides resources aimed at supporting underrepresented founders and small businesses in and beyond the technology sector. This partnership will further expand the program nationally and highlight five Black-owned businesses (College Thriver, Courtroom5, Didactic, Switchboard Live and Wiz Kid Learning), to offer support and increased visibility for historically underrepresented founders.

Dialpad’s Tech for Black Founders program has seen significant growth since its launch in 2021. To date, the program has worked with over 140 Black-owned businesses across the US and Canada, in a range of industries from tech, finance, real estate, to community businesses, accounting for over $700,000 USD per year in free products and discounts.

“I’m proud to partner with Dialpad to support Black-owned businesses through the Tech for Black Founders program,” said Davion Mitchell of the Sacramento Kings. “I’ve really enjoyed building my northern California community so far, and looking forward to using what I’ve learned about teamwork and culture on the court to help Black-owned businesses unlock new levels of achievement and success. As Black-owned businesses have historically been underserved and underfunded, it’s important for me to use my platform to provide greater visibility for these entrepreneurs. This partnership with Dialpad allows us to do that on an even bigger scale.”

The program provides businesses with access to Dialpad’s best-in-class business phone and video meetings as they grow and scale, creating further opportunities to uplevel and compete with better-funded organizations in their respective industries. Dialpad’s partnership with the Sacramento Kings and Mitchell will promote Black-owned businesses featuring them monthly across social media until June 2023.

“First and foremost, Dialpad is saving me a lot of money,” said Shawntia Lee, who has raised $100,000 USD so far as CEO and Founder of College Thriver. “As a small business, it can be hard to keep up sometimes. Dialpad provides us with a great service at a great price, allowing us to keep our focus on helping first-generation, low-income students and students of color to achieve higher levels of educational attainment while avoiding student loan debt. It’s my hope that even more minorities can find out about this program so that they, too, can see their vision come to life as I have.”

The Tech for Black Founders program is open to startups in the United States and Canada that are led by one or more Black founders who have raised less than $30 million USD in venture capital and have fewer than 150 employees. No angel or venture capital investment is required for consideration. If selected as part of Dialpad’s Tech for Black Founders program, businesses will receive ten free lifelong seats of Ai Voice and Ai Meetings and continued discounts throughout the company’s growth.

“Dialpad is committed to using our platform to champion growing Black-owned businesses by providing a robust, out-of-the-box Ai communications solution that serves to bypass obstacles, and costs, startup companies face when ramping up,” said Clinton Ball, Head of Dialpad for Startups. “The program has accomplished so much to date, and we are focused on continuing to support underrepresented founders as they seek to bring their companies to new heights.”
