Nikke Tyry Wins Round 4 of NEXT Golf Tour on TrackMan Simulators

The fourth round of the mixed-field professional virtual golf tour was played at The Concession Golf Club in TrackMan simulators worldwide

With a back nine that included five birdies offset by a pair of bogeys, Nikke Tyry of Finland carded a 7-under 65 to win Round 4 of the NEXT Golf Tour Powered by TrackMan.

Frederik Tøttenborg of Denmark also finished -7, but Tyry broke the tie by posting the lower score on the last three holes (-2) — the third tiebreaker under NEXT Golf Tour rules.

Tyry, a pro since 2013 and currently ranked 3,205 in the world, earned $19,101 with the win, the first of his professional career.

“It’s a dream of mine, to be a great golfer,” Tyry said. “I knew there was a possibility I could do it, and then — it’s there. I did it. I showed everyone. I was so proud of myself.”

Because he was only the second player to finish his round, Tyry had to wait 11 “nerve-racking” days to see if his score held up.

“After the round, it was so hard to actually know what I’ve just done,” Tyry said. “So it’s been the most terrible, but at the same time the best 11 days I’ve had in my life.”

In Round 4, which ran from Feb. 15–26, 482 players from 38 countries competed for a total purse of $148,200. Tøttenborg took home $14,669. American Brian Carroll finished solo third at -6 to earn $11,365, while Sweden’s Rasmus Rosin and American Jake Scott shot -5 to tie for fourth and earn $7,845 each.

With his fourth top-five finish, Rosin takes a commanding lead on the season-long Order of Merit. His $38,532 total through four events is nearly twice that of Sweden’s Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen ($20,030), who won Round 3.

Each of the six stops on the 2023 NEXT Golf Tour consist of one 18-hole individual stroke play round on a select TrackMan Virtual Golf course. The mixed-field events are open to professionals and amateurs, with men and women competing straight-up from different tee boxes.

The guaranteed minimum purse for each NEXT event is $100,000, and $100 from each player’s entry fee is added to the purse. During each round, players also compete in “side games,” which account for $35,000 of the prize pool. Round 4 side games winners included:

Closest-to-the-Pin (Aggregate): Patricia Schmidt, Germany (52’ 5”) — $6,000

Longest Drive (Men): Erik Oja, Sweden (334.3 yards) — $2,000

Longest Drive (Women): Rachel Raastad-Andersson, Norway (274 yards) — $2,000

Birdie Streak: Liam Murray, UK and Frithjof Rasmussen, Norway (4) — $1,175 each

Most Greens in Regulation: Brian Carroll, USA and Bump Carlson, USA (16) — $1,175 each

Round 5 will be played March 8–19 at The Golf Course at Adare Manor in TrackMan simulators worldwide. This is the last round in which players can qualify for the NEXT Golf Tour season finale that begins March 23.

The top 100 players (and ties) through five events will compete for a $100,000 purse in the finale, with the winner receiving $20,000 and guaranteed paychecks for everyone in the top 30. The top 10 players on the Order of Merit after the finale will split a $50,000 bonus pool, including $15,000 for the top finisher.
