Resilience expert will share deep insight on how to confront uncontrollable risks and build a high-performing team
Riskonnect, the leader in integrated risk management (IRM) solutions, today announced that Vanessa Mathews, a business resilience and continuity expert, will lead two sessions within the Risk@Work webinar series. Mathews will share her insight into how companies can control uncontrollable risks and how to mitigate organizational risks associated with understaffed teams by attracting and developing top talent.
Mathews is the founder and Chief Resilience Officer of Asfalis Advisors. Her firm partners with business leaders and organizations to prepare for, protect against, and mitigate crises across healthcare, government, transportation, retail, real estate, financial services, hospitality, and sports and entertainment industries. She is a certified business continuity planner and helps companies uncover their blind spots and protect the legacy of leaders globally by helping them live out their core values.
“As a young woman, my hometown of Atlanta was struck by a natural disaster that we weren’t prepared for and I’ve been passionate about crisis management ever since,” said Mathews. “Today’s risk landscape is volatile, and I’m looking forward to sharing my expertise with the Risk@Work community to help others learn how they can ensure business continuity and build resilience.”
Mathews will lead two Risk@Work sessions:
- Controlling the Uncontrollable Risks (July 20): Learn about the enduring impact that uncontrollable risks, such as global conflicts, political unrest, and insider threats, can have on your organization. Mathews will provide dynamic strategies and in-depth concepts to help you confront these risks and control the uncontrollable confidently.
- From Understaffed to Fully Stacked (December 14): Discover the keys to attracting top talent and how to build out a high-performing team. Mathews will speak to the organizational risks that come with understaffed teams and share the roles, skills, and systems you need to create a fully stacked team in today’s market.
Risk@Work is an educational webinar series designed to explore the common challenges risk managers face every day. Attendees will have the opportunity to earn CPE credits while learning from independent industry experts. Webinar topics range from governance, risk, and compliance issues to the innovative digital risk management trends that are changing the way companies manage risk.
“Maintaining business continuity and resilience is a tall order in today’s complex and fast-moving risk landscape,” said Riskonnect Chief Marketing Officer Andrea Brody. “Vanessa has deep experience and expertise helping companies prepare for the unexpected and manage risk under one roof. We are thrilled to welcome her to the Risk@Work webinar series and look forward to learning alongside her.”
Mathews also serves as an adjunct professor at Savannah State University and is an advisor to the board at Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont. She is the host of the Business Resilience DECODED podcast and was the first female in Georgia to earn a degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
