Pennsylvania American Water Proudly Recognizes American Water Charitable Foundation 2023 Water and Environment Grantees

Recipients include five nonprofit organizations across Pennsylvania American Water

The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., recently announced five organizations in communities served by Pennsylvania American Water were awarded a total of $92,550 in Water and Environment grants.

“Environmental leadership is a core value of our company, and we demonstrate this daily through our efforts to protect sources of drinking water and our continuous reinvestment in water and sewer system upgrades,” said Pennsylvania American Water President Justin Ladner. “These grants provided by our charitable foundation to nonprofits in the communities we serve demonstrate our ongoing commitment to clean water, healthy communities, and educating our next generation about the importance of environmental stewardship.”

The Water and Environment grant is part of the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, focusing on three pillars of giving: Water, People and Communities. Below is a list of grantees throughout Pennsylvania.

  • Delaware River Greenway Partnership (Bucks County): $10,000 to support the Yardley Volunteer Litter Clean Up, Tree Planting & Education event
  • Hopwood Area Recreation Council (Fayette County): $10,100 to purchase and install a water fountain and bottle refill station in Hutchinson Park
  • National Audubon Society (Montgomery County): $27,450 for the John James Audubon Center Riparian Restoration Project, which will engage diverse audiences in buffer restoration work to mitigate storm damage in Perkiomen Creek
  • Pocono Environmental Education Center (Pike County): $30,000 for PEEC Into the Classroom, which will support programming, transport and supplies for 700+ students inside/outside of class to learn about environmental stewardship
  • Rivers of Steel Heritage Corporation (Allegheny County): $15,000 to assist schools with costs to attend Rivers of Steel’s Environmental Science Program
