Operation Hope and Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business Announce Formation of the AI Literacy Pipeline to Prosperity Project – AILP3

New Atlanta-Based K-College Initiative is Focused on Preparing Today’s Youth for an Integrated Future with Artificial Intelligence

Operation HOPE and the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University announced today the formation of the AI Literacy Pipeline to Prosperity Project (“AILP3”), a new initiative that aims to provide underserved populations with the necessary tools to meaningfully participate in an economy impacted by artificial intelligence (AI) – an increasingly significant driver of global innovation and job creation. AILP3 has partnered with a dynamic constellation of forward-thinking corporate, academic, technology, community, and government players, including members of the AI Ethics Council, to develop and support a range of programming for Georgia’s youth, from kindergarteners to college students, including:

  • K-12 to college immersion programming and curriculum developed with the support of leading university educators and AI industry executives to create more opportunities for students of all backgrounds to innovate in an economy rapidly being disrupted by AI
  • Programs to enhance skills for students and families impacted by AI-related job loss
  • Financial literacy programming through Operation HOPE
  • AI-focused scholarships
  • AI apprenticeships

Once fully developed and launched in Atlanta and across the State of Georgia, this initiative is designed to serve as a best-in-class template to replicate AILP3 on a national scale.

“Artificial intelligence has already impacted every aspect of our lives and economy. Equitable access to AI education and the development of an innovation mindset is essential to provide the maximum social, educational, humanitarian, and financial benefits of this transformative technology as AI’s influence rapidly increases,” said Richard Phillips, dean of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. “We are excited to partner with Operation HOPE – a leader in leveling the economic playing field for underserved communities – and its AI Ethics Council to form AILP3. The outcomes will be increased access to AI jobs, diversity in AI talent, and a reduction of economic inequality as we navigate further into the growth of the AI economy.”

“For 30 years, Operation HOPE has provided youth financial literacy services to millions as part of our mission to empower the next generation with the tools and resources to build lifelong financial wellbeing and expand economic opportunity for all. Now, with AILP3, we are seeking to apply our longstanding mission to give young people the opportunity to participate and prosper in this new world of AI,” said John Hope Bryant, Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO. “We are honored to partner with Georgia State University and the Robinson College of Business – one of the most respected and forward-thinking institutions in the country – on this critical initiative.”

The announcement was made at the 10th Annual Hope Global Forums on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, during which both Dean Phillips and Mr. Bryant discussed the program to one of the largest gatherings in the U.S. dedicated to financial empowerment and creating pathways to upward mobility, especially for underserved communities.

About Operation HOPE, Inc.

Since 1992, Operation HOPE has been moving America from civil rights to "silver rights" with the mission of making free enterprise and capitalism work for the underserved—disrupting poverty for millions of low and moderate-income youth and adults across the nation. Through its community uplift model, HOPE Inside, which received the 2016 Innovator of the Year recognition by American Banker magazine, Operation HOPE has served more than 4 million individuals and directed more than $3.2 billion in economic activity into disenfranchised communities—turning check-cashing customers into banking customers, renters into homeowners, small business dreamers into small business owners, minimum wage workers into living wage consumers, and uncertain disaster victims into financially empowered disaster survivors.
