American Water Charitable Foundation Celebrates Giving Tuesday

Provides $100,000 Corporate Strategic Grant to Feeding America and Seeds American Water Employee Giving Accounts with $100 Reward

The American Water Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization established by American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., announced today that it kicked off Giving Tuesday by awarding a $100,000 Corporate Strategic grant to Feeding America, helping to end food insecurity, as well as provided American Water employee Giving Accounts with a $100 reward to donate to eligible charities of choice.

“Feeding America is grateful for the continued support of the American Water Charitable Foundation,” said Elizabeth Pettengill, Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships, Feeding America. “This donation will support Feeding America’s network of more than 200 food banks and 60,000 partner agencies across the U.S., who are working tirelessly to help address food insecurity and end hunger.”

Additionally, to inspire community giving and celebrate Giving Tuesday, the Foundation provided $100 to every employee, via their Giving Rewards Account, to donate to an eligible charity of choice meaningful to them.

“This season, I’m reflecting on the importance of giving back and the power of community. Through the American Water Charitable Foundation’s Giving Tuesday Reward Program, I was able to support Autism Speaks, an organization that means so much to me as a caregiver to my autistic child,” said Coty Calvanese, Senior Project Manager, Solution Delivery, American Water. “I’m grateful to work for a company that encourages employees to make a difference and amplifies the impact we can have on causes close to our hearts. It’s a reminder of how small actions can lead to meaningful change. Thank you, American Water Charitable Foundation and American Water, for fostering a culture of generosity and support!”

Since 2012, the American Water Charitable Foundation has invested $15.5 million in funding through grants and matching gifts that are important to American Water’s employees and positively impact the communities where they live and work.

“Our charitable focus to Keep Communities Flowing empowers our community partners and American Water employees to make meaningful long-term differences in the lives of those they serve,” said Carrie Williams, President, American Water Charitable Foundation.
