The second activation for the 3-year global partnership took place at Art Basel Miami Beach with authentic flavors of Hong Kong and a debut of Hong Kong Artist Mak2’s Latest Installation
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) successfully launched its second activation in Miami Beach as part of a three-year global partnership with Art Basel, following a successful Paris activation. From December 6-8, visitors from around the world were invited to experience a taste of Hong Kong at a vibrant "Cha Chaan Teng" pop-up café, celebrating the city’s status as a premier art and cultural destination. Set against the backdrop of Art Basel Miami Beach, one of the premier US art events of the year, this showcase highlighted Hong Kong's rich cultural heritage and dynamic culinary scene.

A Journey Through Hong Kong’s Cha Chaan Teng Culture
Attendees took a break from their packed agendas for a one-of-a-kind experience and were immersed in Hong Kong’s traditional cafe culture. Attendees enjoyed Hong Kong favorites, including pineapple buns, egg tarts and milk tea, against the backdrop of nostalgic design elements, such as classic patterned floor tiles and Hong Kong-style décor.
Worldwide Debut of Hong Kong Art Installation
Celebrated Hong Kong multi-media artist Mak2 debuted an exclusive art installation “Sweet Home Invasion” within the space, seamlessly integrating physical and digital elements in her signature style, creating an all-encompassing experience that reflects Hong Kong’s captivating spirit.
A Hong Kong Evening at the Botanical Garden
The Hong Kong Sunset Cocktail event brought together art lovers, luminaries and VIP guests from all over the world during Art Basel Miami Beach on December 5, 2024 set against the verdant backdrop of the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Hong Kong-inspired food and cocktails delighted guests as they mingled and created new connections.
Upcoming activation: Back to Hong Kong
A newly themed third activation will take place in HKTB’s home city during Art Basel Hong Kong (March 28-30, 2025) at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. A unique opportunity for art enthusiasts, collectors, and creatives to immerse themselves in the vibrant art scene in Hong Kong, attendees will celebrate Hong Kong’s rich cultural tapestry and dynamic artistic expressions, offering an experience that promises to inspire and engage.
