Hurricane Electric Expands High-Speed IP Transit to the Southeast with New Point of Presence at Coloblox in Atlanta

Seventh Point of Presence in Georgia brings robust, high-speed connectivity to the most startup-focused area of the Southeast U.S.

Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone announced today that it has deployed a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Coloblox ATL1 in Atlanta. The new PoP is located at 1100 Circle 75 Pkwy SE, 16th Floor, Atlanta, GA 30339.

The Coloblox ATL1 data center is 30 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest airport in the country. This carrier-neutral facility is strategically located to serve customers throughout Georgia and the Southeast, with a wide variety of connectivity and direct access to major network providers, various redundancy options and 100% uptime SLAs.

Atlanta is a top technology hub and is home to 54 colleges and universities that are educating entrepreneurs and a technologically savvy workforce, and contributing to the area’s thriving startup community, ranked 11th in the country.

This PoP is Hurricane Electric’s seventh location in Georgia. It will provide organizations in the city and the entire region with improved fault tolerance, load balancing, and congestion management in the delivery of next-generation IP connectivity services.

“Adding our seventh PoP in Atlanta enables Hurricane Electric to increase connectivity options that satisfy the growing demand from innovation in this market,” said Mike Leber, President, Hurricane Electric.

Customers of Coloblox ATL1 and in and around the Southeast now have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s extensive IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Additionally, customers at the facility are able to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s vast global network, which offers over 30,000 BGP sessions with over 10,000 different networks via 310 major exchange points and thousands of customer and private peering ports.
