Immigration Lawyer From Lincoln-Goldfinch Law Discusses New Parole Program

Austin, TX – Lincoln-Goldfinch Law Founder weighs in on President Biden’s new executive order for immigrants. During an appearance on KXAN News, Austin immigration lawyer Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch discussed the administration's rollout of a parole program. This initiative introduces a pathway to legal status for undocumented spouses of American citizens who have resided in the U.S. for a decade or more.

The Department of Homeland Security estimates that nearly half a million spouses and about 50,000 children could benefit from the program. This shows a significant departure from the previous process, which often required spouses to leave the country and face a three —or ten-year reentry ban.

To qualify, noncitizen spouses must have been continuously present in the U.S. for at least ten years as of June 17, 2024. They must have been legally married to a U.S. citizen and pose no threat to public safety or national security. Eligible individuals will have three years to apply for legal permanent residence.

During the KXAN interview, Kate highlighted the excitement and renewed hope among some of their clients following the announcement. The Austin-based immigration attorney, who also practices as an Austin bankruptcy attorney, noted that the order is a common-sense solution for beneficiaries. It will enable them to obtain their Green Cards faster, work legally, and live without deportation fear.

With a strong reputation for advocacy work, Kate views the program as a significant step in recognizing the contributions of undocumented spouses. However, given the upcoming election, the potential for a new administration could reverse the parole program.

The experienced lawyer advises that when an immigration benefit becomes available, immigrants should seize the opportunity despite potential changes. They should initiate the immigration process under this executive order as a fallback plan, even if they have a pending waiver or consular application.

Lincoln-Goldfinch Law encourages those interested in the new program to reach out for help. Experienced immigration attorneys can assess eligibility, guide clients through the application process, and provide comprehensive legal support.
