Actor and award-winning producer/director David Wenzel is being featured in a new off-Broadway show, ‘Ode to the Wasp Woman’, which runs from November 9, 2023, until January 31, 2024.
Wenzel has starred in a number of off-Broadway theatrical productions in New York City, in addition to film, television shows and series, and daytime serials. His long list of credits include starring in Blue Bloods, Rescue Me, FBI, Old Dogs, The Hustler, One Life to Live, Guiding Light, Another World, and many more. He’s worked alongside some of the best in the craft, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Fisher Stevens, Brad Pitt, Scott Rudin, and Jace Alexander. Additionally, Wenzel has proudly worked with Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki and Oscar winner Gordan Willis.
As an award-winning producer and director, Wenzel has received accolades for his work on films including Echelon 8, The Hostage, Hamlet/Horatio, Preying for Mercy, and the upcoming The Audition & The Coffee Shop.
Now, he takes the stage for a noir 1950s Hollywood tale that chronicles the last 48 hours in the lives of four B-move stars: George ‘Superman’ Reeves, Barbara Payton, Alfalfa Switzer, and Susan Cabot. Featuring Sean Young from Blade Runner, the play has already captured the attention of people everywhere and is being deemed a must-see for true crime aficionados, Sean Young fans, and anyone with a love for classic 1950s Hollwyood and television.
The show was written and is directed by Rider McDowell, who came up with the idea for the play as a tribute to some of his boyhood television heroes.
‘Ode to the Wasp Woman’ made its official debut on November 9, 2023, at the Actors Temple Theatre.
