Breast milk has several benefits for newborns, and it’s recommended that babies get the main part of their nutrition from breastfeeding until they are about six months old. However, only 25% of babies were breastfed exclusively until the 6-month mark, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
By providing support in a calm environment where both parents and baby feel comfortable, TOTville wants to make breastfeeding into an enjoyable bonding experience without pain or stress, with a focus on including both parents.
“Hospitals are often quick to push supplementing without proper education and breastfeeding support. Some significant others don't understand why a mother wants to breastfeed, the benefits of it, or how to handle the challenges,” a company spokesperson explained.
The breastfeeding support sessions are held by TOTville’s International Board Certified Lactation Consultants and address the many aspects of breastfeeding, including latch techniques, positioning tips, and how to overcome challenges like low milk supply or nipple pain. Parents can also book an oral motor functional assessment and learn about weighted feeds to track that their babies are getting enough milk.
Additionally, it's possible to book breastfeeding-related services like father's role guidance, milk flow-promoting lymphatic drainage massage, and breast pump setup and education.
