Australian-Made Polycarbonate Plastic Mountable Rain Gauge: Restock Announced

LouRoss Technology Pty Ltd has announced the availability of its Australian-made mountable rain gauge.

To help individuals prepare their gardens and lawns for the coming growing season, the company has restocked its rain gauges, which allow gardeners to accurately track rainfall volume.

Precipitation is an environmental factor that influences plant growth, with adequate amounts of moisture needed for photosynthesis and nutrient uptake from the soil. However, too much water can compact the soil, increase rates of erosion, and injure plant tissues, according to PennState Extension. Extreme rainfall events can also reduce the amount of oxygen available in the soil while leaching nitrogen out, leading to root loss and hindering photosynthetic activity, respectively.

Overwatering can compound the effects of heavy precipitation, leading to plant death. To help gardeners avoid this outcome, LouRoss Technology has developed its rain gauge to provide accurate readings of the amount of rainfall that has fallen during precipitation events, allowing gardeners to determine whether their plants need additional watering.

The Australian-made rain gauge is designed to be mounted on deck or fence posts and comes with all the hardware necessary for installation. Unlike conventional products, which are typically made from glass, the ones supplied by LouRoss Technology are manufactured from high-quality polycarbonate plastic, making them resistant to cracking, yellowing, and clouding. The material is frost- and sun-hardy and can withstand extreme temperature changes, allowing customers to leave the rain gauge outside in all conditions without fear of damage. LouRoss Technology, however, advises them to take extra precautions during below-freezing weather.

Because the rain gauge features a manual scale, no calibration or electronics are required for setup. The product displays measurements in both the metric system and the imperial system, with a maximum capacity of 150 mm or 6 inches, respectively. Due to its wide-mouth design, the gauge is also easy to empty; customers only need to remove it from the mounting bracket and pour the water out.

A satisfied customer said, “This is one of the best rain gauges I've used. Its mouth is nice and wide, and the graduated form allows for greater accuracy. The plastic is durable, and the mounting bracket was very easy to install.”
