NFL PLAY 60 Fitness Break broadcast keeps kids active in advance of Super Bowl LVII

(NewMediaWire) - February 06, 2023 - DALLAS — The American Heart Association and the National Football League (NFL), in collaboration with its 32 NFL clubs, are challenging kids to move more with the NFL PLAY 60 Super Bowl LVII Fitness Break. The free program on Thursday, February 9 at 1 p.m. ET/ 12 p.m. CT/ 10 a.m. PT will offer an action packed, 15-minute synchronous broadcast to help students add movement to their day leading up to the big game.

Rooted in American Heart Association science, the Fitness Break broadcast helps students learn more about how physical activity supports their overall wellness. Super Bowl LVII host team, the Arizona Cardinals, will also announce the national winner of the Race to the Super Bowl fitness tracking competition. Advanced registration by parents, teachers or school administrators for the broadcasts is required.

NFL PLAY 60 initiative helps children to develop healthy habits for a better chance of a healthy adulthood. The program encourages kids to get a minimum of 60 minutes of vigorous physical activity each day to meet the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans[1]. Reducing sedentary behavior and increasing physical activity are key to immediate and long-term health for children.

“Working together with the National Football League on NFL PLAY 60, we’re excited for continued ways to support getting youth across the country moving towards a healthier and more active lifestyle,” said American Heart Association and American Stroke Association Chief Executive Officer Nancy Brown. “Prevention skills as well as lifesaving skills, such as CPR, are critical to change health outcomes across generations.”

This is the second broadcast of the school year. The NFL PLAY 60 Fitness Break Kickoff broadcast was held in September and the NFL Draft Fitness Break will take place April 26 at 1 p.m. ET/ 12 p.m. CT/ 10 a.m. PT.

“We’re proud to partner with American Heart Association on this year’s NFL PLAY 60 Fitness Break to help youth across the country get active,” said Anna Isaacson, NFL SVP of Social Responsibility. “Prioritizing health and wellness is a priority for the NFL and we’re excited to showcase this in a multitude of ways during Super Bowl week alongside the American Heart Association.”

In addition to the NFL PLAY 60 Super Bowl Fitness Break, the NFL and the American Heart Association will host 250 students from Justine Spitalny Elementary School in Phoenix in the PLAY 60 zone at the Super Bowl Experience at the Phoenix Convention Center on Wednesday, Feb. 8. Students will have the opportunity to add minutes of physical activity to their day at this private event.  Students from Spitalny Elementary are also featured in the Feb. 9 NFL PLAY 60 Super Bowl Fitness Break.

Super Bowl Experience attendees to the ticketed event, Feb. 4-11, will be able to engage with the NFL PLAY 60 app which will be included in the digital interactive zone at the Super Bowl Experience.

Also, at the Super Bowl Experience in the days leading up to the game, Feb. 9-11, attendees are invited to “Be The Beat” and learn Hands-Only CPR with the American Heart Association. During this engaging and interactive instruction, attendees of all ages will learn the two simple steps to help save a life and can try out skills in a fun CPR race.
