Overstimulation And Your Children

By: PRLog

CENTENNIAL, Colo. - March 26, 2023 - PRLog -- What is overstimulation, and how does it affect children? Overstimulation occurs when a person is overpowered by sensations, noises, colors, and activities, overwhelming them and affecting their ability to manage. Sensory overload can also impact reactions from children, like excessive crying and jerky movements. The main problem with overstimulation is how it attacks a person's ability to comprehend and process.

Signs of Overstimulation:

  • Frustration
  • Quickly tired
  • Disengage
  • Clingy
  • Excessive crying

While overstimulation can and will happen, there are ways to help children when this occurs. One tip is to be empathetic; understanding how they feel will develop a sense of trust and safety. Try to bring them into a quieter space and offer support if they need it. How people respond makes a significant impact on their emotional and social expansion.
