As NCNW's signature event in New York State, the BHRP is one of its most important initiatives. The event celebrates the achievements of African American women and girls and raises funds for NCNW's programs and services. The National BHRP Co-Chairs are Johnnie M. Walker and Dawna M. Fields and the NYS Luncheon Co-Chairs are Gladys Keller and Evelyn Kinsey.
Every year, Bethune-Height Recognition Program (BHRP) recognizes community leaders and supports National Council of Negro Women, Inc. In honor of NCNW founder Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune and former Chair of the Board, Dr. Dorothy Irene Height, the BHRP salutes and recognizes all who embody the Bethune tradition of providing community volunteer services to the less fortunate. Bethune-Height's recognition programs support the organization's mission to empower, advocate for, and lead women of African descent. Since over a century ago, NCNW has been at the forefront of social change as an organization of African American women. Through education, advocacy, and leadership development, NCNW empowers women of African descent in achieving economic security, social justice, and political empowerment.
It has been confirmed that dignitaries from New York City and Washington, DC will attend.
