Arable Broadens Global Operations with First Office In India, Appoints Vice President to Drive Expansion

By: Get News

BANGALORE, India – December 14, 2021 – Arable, a leading IoT-enabled SaaS agricultural technology company, announced today the opening of a new, world-class engineering and commercial center in Bangalore, India. Arable aims at growing the business and expanding its reach within the region. In addition to its main office in San Francisco, CA, the company opened an additional regional office in 2020 in Piracicaba, Brazil. The new India base will be Arable’s second international hub.

Known as “the Silicon Valley of Asia,” Bangalore was selected to expand Arable’s operations because of its wide tech-savvy talent pool, the proximity to many of its customers’ field operations, and the diversity of climatic growing zones in the region. Building a logistical hub in Bangalore will allow Arable to provide customers with localized agronomic, field, and tech support. It will also augment the U.S.-based team by adding a new bench of experts to the Arable ecosystem, from agronomy, field science operations and data science to machine learning and app/hardware development.

“The opening of Arable’s new office in Bangalore gives us direct access to fantastic tech talent, some of the best in the world,” said Arable Chief Technology Officer Joakim Wiklund. “Our high-impact team will be able to build on our already solid foundation to open up new opportunities for us and our partners in the region and globally. Our customers have also told us that having local support enhances an already great experience with our product.”

Arable selected VP and Head of the Bangalore office Jagan Bhalaki to build the company’s local commercial and engineering teams. Co-founder of Synergy Infotech, which was acquired by Sonim Technologies — a pioneer of push-to-talk and ruggedized mobile phones—Bhalaki has deep experience with India’s IT giants such as HCL, Wipro, and Itron, the leading automated metering infrastructure provider. His main goal is to support Arable’s product and technology innovation and will also work to help customers better understand how to harness ground-truth data from the field to drive more sustainable and profitable outcomes.

“Arable is committed to providing a wonderful working environment for our employees,” said Bhalaki. “Our Bangalore office fosters flexible working arrangements allowing for remote work, and a coworking space for those who want it. As someone passionate about sustainable food production who strongly believes in Arable’s ability to contribute to producing more food while preserving natural resources, I am excited to lead this new chapter of Arable’s expansion.”

Arable’s groundbreaking solution encompasses IoT hardware, agronomic modeling, and a complete SaaS suite, allowing farmers, agronomists, researchers, and food companies to understand the full climate and plant system, in turn reducing risk, improving productivity and optimizing sustainability. The company is currently experiencing an unprecedented growth period, and is hiring for several agronomy, operations, and engineering positions based in Bangalore.
