U.P. Travel Organizations Applaud Michigan House's $50 Million Pure Michigan Proposal

In the latest budget proposal, $50 million has been allocated to enhance and expand the tourism marketing efforts that have been instrumental in showcasing Michigan's diverse attractions.

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI, May 01, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tourism and Recreation organizations across Michigan's Upper Peninsula (U.P.) are praising the Michigan House of Representatives proposal to significantly increase funding for the state's flagship tourism initiative, the Pure Michigan campaign.

In the latest budget proposal, $50 million has been allocated to enhance and expand the tourism marketing efforts that have been instrumental in showcasing Michigan's diverse attractions.

"Over the years, the economic impact of the Pure Michigan campaign has been undeniable," said Tom Nemacheck, director of the Upper Peninsula Travel & Recreation Association. "Michigan – especially the U.P. – is a year-round tourism destination, which is not something many states can make a claim to. This proposal leverages our strength as a state. We would like to thank Representative Will Snyder (D-Muskegon) for his leadership and prioritizing Pure Michigan funding in this budget."

The funding increase for Pure Michigan is expected to bolster the state's economy by attracting more visitors both domestically and internationally. Historical data underscores the campaign's significant economic impact.
