Meet the “Mother of Forests” Advocating for Responsible Forestry Practices

By: 3BL Media

P&G Partners with Katie Couric Media for part 4 in their “Leading with Love” Series

SOURCE: P&G

DESCRIPTION:

Stacey Locke still remembers the first time her grandmother brought her to their family’s forest – the Pine Prairie. She was five years old, and it was filled with young pine saplings just as tall as her. Her grandmother explained how she planted them for Stacey the year she was born and asked her to always take care of these very special trees. And Stacey promised she would. Fifty years later, she’s doing just that, alongside her father and three sisters – and inspiring others to do their part as well.

Like many land stewards, Stacey’s forest has been passed down through her family for generations. Today Stacey – affectionately known as the “mother of forests” – is one of the land stewards who supply wood pulp used to make our Charmin toilet paper.

Stacey is proud to have her trees certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®), the largest timber certification organization in the world, ensuring that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. It is the “gold standard of timber” as Stacey told KCM Media, so consumers can feel good knowing their toilet paper is coming from land stewards like Stacey, who care about their forests and protect the environment.

Stacey believes in the power and impact of one act of good and takes time to educate other landowners and foresters about the FSC certification so our trees, forests and wildlife can flourish and thrive.

P&G and our Family Care brands go beyond responsible sourcing and support efforts to keep forests as forests now and for generations to come. To learn more, please visit https://us.pg.com/blogs/forest-conversation-efforts/.
