Each year, the workplace giving campaign is organized by Ryder executives and employee volunteers who plan and execute five days of fundraising activities, with donations being made through an online pledge portal. For this year’s campaign, themed “Provide hope where it’s needed most,” Ryder hosted a combination of virtual and in-person fundraising activities for its more than 48,000 employees across the United States.
“It is an honor to experience Ryder employees having fun while giving back to the communities where they work and live,” says Ryder Chairman and CEO Robert Sanchez. “This year, our employees went above and beyond to demonstrate how great the spirit of giving is across the company as we saw increased levels of employee participation, leading to a new giving record of $1.1 million to the United Way to support communities across the country. Thanks to our incredible people and the leadership of our campaign chair, Steve Sensing, we are able to achieve this impactful donation.”
Funds raised from the annual company campaign are the driving force that allows United Way to respond to a community’s most complex needs, helping to ensure that all people have access to quality education and the opportunity to lead healthy and financially secure lives.
“United Way Miami and Ryder share similar visions to build stronger communities where employees live and work and improve the quality of life for all,” says Symeria Hudson, president and CEO of United Way Miami. “For more than 40 years, through our partnership, we have provided access to necessary resources that help local families thrive. Ryder, an organization renowned for its philanthropic contributions, consistently demonstrates dedication to our shared cause, and for this enduring generosity, United Way is profoundly grateful.”
“It always amazes me just how inspiring and humbling the employees at Ryder are,” adds Steve Sensing, Ryder’s president of supply chain and dedicated transportation solutions, and this year’s campaign chair. “The generosity and support that our employees display really makes the difference and sets us apart, as it truly has become imbedded into our culture at Ryder. Ryder’s support will go to educational, healthcare, and financial resiliency organizations and initiatives that are doing the most to help communities. It’s inspiring to know that friends and neighbors will receive the support they need through our contributions to the United Way.”
