Utah Symphony and Opera Hired BigHorn Roofing Re-roofs the Utah Opera Production Studios

Midvale roofing company won the bid to install a new roof on the expansive Utah Opera Production Studios in downtown Salt Lake City

(PRUnderground) July 15th, 2024

In addition to the many residential roofing projects BigHorn’s expert installers undertake each year along the Wasatch Front, the company also completes several commercial projects. GAF certified to install both low and steep-slope commercial products, BigHorn’s teams are well-qualified to take on a variety of projects. When the time came to replace the roof on the Utah Opera Production Studios in downtown Salt Lake City, the Utah Opera and Symphony selected BigHorn Roofing for the job. Work began on the roof replacement on July 8, 2024.

BigHorn Roofing is a local and family-owned company that services Salt Lake and Utah counties, as well as the surrounding area. Well-known as a residential roofing company, BigHorn’s teams regularly handle many exterior home projects, including siding installation, soffit and fascia repair and replacement, and snow and ice dam removal for residential and commercial clients. Their knowledge of the unique weather conditions and 20 years of experience working in Utah makes them well-acquainted with the needs of Utah homeowners and businesses.

“The weather in Utah can be quite extreme,” remarked Bryce Rose, President of BigHorn Roofing. “The heavy, wet snow in the winter and the blistering heat in the summer really takes a toll on roofing and siding. Because we know what our roofs need to stand up to, we make sure they are up to the task by using only top-quality materials to make sure the roof will not only last but will protect the valuable building on which it sits.”

The Utah Opera acquired its Production Studios in 1995 to bring all their operations together under one roof. In 2002, the Opera merged with the Utah Symphony and added 30,000 square feet to the existing building, nearly doubling the square footage. Today, the Utah Opera uses the Production Studios for rehearsals, set and costume design and storage, and administrative offices. It also houses their extensive collection of costumes and sets that other operas regularly rent from the Utah Opera.

“The Utah Symphony and Opera are an important part of the arts and culture here in Utah,” stated Rose. “And, this building is essential to their daily operations. We are proud to use our roofing services to support the Utah Opera and Symphony, which give so much back to the community through their musical and dance productions as well as their educational programs.”
