“The hospitality industry has always been a challenging and dynamic field, with constant fluctuations in demand, supply, and consumer behavior. Despite the ups and downs, hotels have been an essential part of the global economy, providing jobs, generating revenue, and promoting tourism,” Nalley said.

Hailing from a diverse background, Stephen Nalley faced a myriad of challenges but saw them as opportunities for growth. Perceiving each obstacle as a teacher, he was seated as the Chief Operating Officer of Ocean Water, a multi-faceted real estate investment company comprised of more than 129 entities; he served in the US Army as a light infantry squad leader and commando; he is also a proud holder of a law degree from Washington University School of Law and a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration.

As Stephen notes, his variegated professional history was instrumental in helping him build and lead Black Briar Advisors, a prominent real estate investment & asset management company specializing in helping managers and owners of distressed hotels get back on their feet.

Distressed asset management is just one of the many topics Stephen’s newest book touches on. Mr. Nalley drew inspiration from personal experiences while working with some of the biggest names in the hospitality industry to create “The Ultimate Guide to Managing Distressed Hotel Assets”:

“This book covers a wide range of topics, from understanding the root cause of hotel distress to devising a recovery plan and executing it effectively. It provides practical insights into the key challenges of hotel distress, such as cash flow management, debt restructuring, labor costs, and brand value. The book also discusses various legal and regulatory aspects of hotel distress, such as bankruptcy, foreclosure, receivership, and insolvency,” Stephen Nalley continued.

Insights and advice contained in “The Ultimate Guide to Managing Distressed Hotel Assets” aim to empower and inspire distressed hotel owners, managers, and investors to transform a declining asset into a profitable venture.
